

Steven Randall Pharis, 79, of Plano, Texas took his last earthly breath Thursday, November 6, 2025 after a battle with frontotemporal dementia. He was born on September 12, 1946 in Vallejo, California to Rudolph and Lyndol Pharis.
Steve earned a Bachelor of Arts in Speech and English and a Master of Fine Arts in Directing, and spent his early professional years as a theater teacher in McAllen, Texas and later in The Woodlands, Texas. While teaching in McAllen, he was drafted to the United States Army and served as First Lieutenant from 1969-1972, including one year in Vietnam. He was a true patriot and loved his country dearly, but excited to return home to his bride and start a family. The majority of his career was spent as a Sales and Marketing Manager selling Dinamaps for Johnson and Johnson, and then retired as Director of Marketing for a long-term care company in 2010. Steve’s dynamic personality and love for people served him well in his career and he was recognized frequently over the years for his outstanding service.
Steve was known by his colleagues and clients for his honesty, integrity, dedication, and sense of humor. He cherished family and friends, and was a fun-loving Poppy to his six grandchildren. He will be remembered for his diverse taste in music, his love for all things Aggie, making friends wherever he went, and his enthusiasm to watch his grandchildren at games or performances.
Steve is survived by his wife of almost 57 years, Mary; daughter, Vanessa and husband Bob Dry; daughter, Megan Pharis; and grandchildren, Victoria Dry, Taylor Dry, Katelyn Clements, Violet Dry, Landon Burris, and Dempsey Dunning.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Amanda Leigh Pharis; brother, Scott Pharis; and his parents, Rudolph and Lyndol Pharis.
A celebration of Steve’s life will be held at 2:00pm Monday, December 1, at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home in Dallas (7990 President George Bush Turnpike).
