It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Susan Ann Vissers Ham, on September 28, 2026, at the age of 66. Susan was born in Mineral Wells, Texas, living most of her life in Texas. However, as a child of an Army officer, until her senior year of high school Susan had lived in several states and the countries of Germany and Colombia.
Susan graduated with honors from the University of North Texas with a degree in Business Administration. Susan was also a graduate of “Dunkin’ Donuts University”, starting her working career supporting the family donut franchise. She could make the donuts and do any other job in the shop. Susan later worked for Minyard Food Stores (20+ years), finishing her career with 7-11 in their corporate offices. She took pride in her work and placed the customer first.
Susan was most proud of her son, Chris. She will be remembered for her love of family (including the 4-legged members), friends, popcorn, and the Golden Girls as well as her easy laugh, her sarcastic wit, and her generosity.
Susan suffered from kidney failure in 2008 and was fortunate to receive a living donation. Although she was a fighter, Susan was unable to overcome the numerous health issues related to her ongoing chronic kidney disease. She passed away peacefully at Medical City Dallas Hospital.
Susan was predeceased by her husband, David Ham, and her father, Martin Vissers. She is survived by her son, Chris Ham, her mother, Marjorie Vissers, and her sister Diane Rutherford (husband Greg).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation, Wreaths Across America, or the charity of your choice. Friends and family are invited to Ted Dickie West Funeral Home on October 5, 2026, from 1-3pm when the family is holding a simple gathering of remembrance.
