Theodore P “Ted” Hornick, age 81 of Plano, passed away February 8, 2014 at the VA Hospital in Dallas after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease. Ted was born on December 5, 1932 in Green Bay Wisconsin. He was the youngest of 9 brothers and sisters. He is preceded in death by his loving mother Emily and seven of his brothers and sisters. Ted is survived by his wife of 58 years Patti Hornick of Plano and his two sons Ted Andrew Hornick and Bill G. Hornick. Also surviving are his grandchildren Katie, Emily, Sara, William Augustus and two great nephews Colby and Chase.
Ted was very active in the Plano community. He was a member of the Lions Clubs. He volunteered with the Plano libraries and was very involved in his church, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, The St. Elizabeth Seton Men’s Clubs and The Serra Club, a group of Catholic men and women who support vocations to the priesthood and religious life. However everything came to a stop when his beloved Green Bay Packers took the field! He owned 2 shares of stock in the real “Americas Team”; a team owned by its legion of fans around the world. He was loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11AM on Thursday February 20th at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. A reception will follow in the parish hall. Ted’s cremated remains will be inurned in the DFW National Cemetery later this spring.
