

Tom was born April 10, 1923 to Dr. and Mrs. A. B. Watkins, Sr. in Seagoville, Texas. He went to be with the Lord on January 1, 2017. He was an accomplished athlete in high school, graduated at age sixteen and served as valedictorian of his class. He attended North Texas State University where he received a BS in Chemistry and Math.
After graduation, he attended Naval Officer School and served as an Aircraft Fighter Radar Controller during WWII. In 1946 he attended the University of Texas at Austin where he was a Teaching Fellow and received his Master’s Degree in Chemistry. He joined Mobil Research and Development Corp. in 1947 where he had a long and illustrious career as Drilling Manager. During his career he traveled to many different countries.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy, son Dan and wife Lorie, daughter Cheryl Neathery and husband Mark, son David and wife Mimi, two grandsons, four granddaughters, twelve great-grandchildren and numerous extended family and many friends.
He was a founding member of Randol Mill Church of Christ in Arlington, Texas where he served as an elder for many years.
The family thanks the staff of Fountain View and VNA Hospice for their exceptional professional and loving care of Tom over the last year and a half.
