Olsen, Troie Barbara

Troie “Barbara” Olsen was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on Thursday, January 20, 1949. Her spirit went to be with her Lord and Sweet Savior on Monday, April 23, 2018.

To say she was a stellar mother is an understatement—she wrote the book on how to be the most caring, attentive, present, encouraging, and loving mother.

To say she was a devoted and passionate wife is to oversimplify. For 50 years, she was a partner, best friend, support, rock, guide, and joy-maker.

To say she was a committed follower of her Lord Shepherd is descriptive restrainment. She sang out her alphabet of praises every day to her Lord Jesus Christ.

You would have been blessed to say you were part of her inner circle.

Her daughter, Hillary Olsen Hilliard; her son, Blake Olsen; her husband, William “Bill” Olsen; and her grandson, Mercer Hilliard, will continue to live each day with her song in their hearts—it was and still is a song of bravery, immeasurable love, faith, humor, wit, and beauty.

A Hawaiian homecoming celebration will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at 2:00PM at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home at 7990 President George Bush Turnpike, Dallas, Texas 75252.

Pass on Kindness. Hug a little longer. Help those in need. Say one nice thing to someone today. Barbara would have.

In lieu of flowers family is requesting donations be made in Barbara's name to Union Gospel Mission 3211 Irving Boulevard Dallas, Texas 75247

I worked with Mr. Bill Olsen for 9 years.
Mrs. Barbara Olsen always remembered me on my birthday and at Christmas.
Barbara is a Blessing. She always had an encouraging word.
She was a virtuous woman of GOD.
She will be missed.

Love Eternally,

Keisha Reynolds

Barbara Olsen, the best Mama this world has ever seen. Your Light will be missed here, but Heaven is Beyond Brighter now.

One of our Summers in New Jersey on Great Nani's front porch. My mother loved Great Nani--one of their moments together--two sweet souls here.

My Mama sewed this dress. She was such a beauty. Such style, character, wit, intelligence, & compassion. She was posing at her home in Honolulu. Gorgeous woman, inside & out.

Troie Barbara Mercer--she was born as Barbara Ann Mercer & her mom, Georgeanna, legally changed her name to "Troie" Barbara. Goodness knows why. My Mama never liked the "Troie" part. What a sweet smile--my Mama as a young girl with her dog in her backyard in Honolulu.

Blake, Hillary, & Barbara at the Dallas Zoo. I love that the lion is just above my Mama's head in this photo. Brave Lionness Energy my Mama had. She was a fighter. I love this photo because I had SO many great memories with my Mama & my brother. She was dedicated to us. Such an inspiration. Such a gift--to feel so loved by another--endless love.

My Mama & Papa--Barbara & Bill. Look at that sweet cozy love. They had been together 50 years. They used to go out to eat every Friday night. This was one of my visits with them--we ate at Mi Cocina. Her health had been tenuous & this was one of the last times I was able to go out to eat with both of them because my mom's health started declining where she couldn't leave her house. We don't realize things are really good until they change. That's how I feel when I look at this photo.

Are you kidding me? Look at her Beauty & my brother's sweetness. This was at our house in Ports a Call in Plano Texas.

My Mama & I (Hillary) in Denver at the Denver People's Fair. She was never able to visit my home or my school because she couldn't travel with her health. But I knew she was always there in spirit.

My beautiful Mother with my brother as a baby--probably 1977 or 1978 here. New Jersey probably.
