William served in the United States Air Force for more than 21 years, retiring with the rank of Major. After military service he continued his career for various university and government institutions.
He attended Loyola High School, earned a B.S. from the University of Maryland, and an M.S. in Safety from the University of Central Missouri.
William was preceded in death by his wife, Mary A. Dorn. He is survived by his children, Mary E. Dorn of Columbia Missouri and Kevin M. Dorn of Los Gatos, California; daughter-in-law Stacey E. Dorn; grandchildren Alexis and Jackson Dorn; and his long-term partner, Judy Brittain.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mark's the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1105 W. 15th St., Plano, TX 75075. Interment will follow at Dallas–Fort Worth National Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with his wife Mary.
