William "Bill" Lester Hansen, age 84 passed away on Friday November 15, 2019. Bill was born Wednesday July 10, 1935 in San Francisco, California to Louisa Quatman Hansen and Lester Howard Hansen. He was the second child of three; older brother Kenneth Hansen and younger sister Sandy Kantor.

Bill was born and raised in the city of San Francisco, California. As a young boy he developed a strong work ethic and from an early age sold newspapers and shined shoes. He also developed a love of sports both football (49ners) and baseball (Giants). He was a caddy and player at the San Francisco golf course where he developed his passion and love for the game of golf.

He loved the city of San Francisco and attended Mission High School and graduated from the University of San Francisco with a degree in Business Administration. He moved away in 1960 when he started his career with Bethlehem Steel Corporation where he was the Sales Account Manager.  He retired from the company after 42 years of dedicated service.

Bill Hansen married the love of his life and best friend Patricia Delores Hansen on a Saturday July 14, 1956 and shared 63 years of marriage. They had two amazing children; son Mark Hansen and daughter Susan (Hansen) Lund. They also had 3 cherished grandchildren; Katherine Lund, William Lund and Joseph Hansen.

Bill was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family, friends and golf. He never missed any of his children's or grandchildren's sporting events. He was always on the sideline cheering for his child or grandchild.

Bill loved to play golf. He started playing as a young boy and continued to play until he was almost 82 years old. When he was not playing golf he was attending his grandchildren's many sporting events from soccer, basketball and baseball. He was always their number one fan.

His favorite place to be was with beloved family (wife, children and grandchildren) otherwise he was at the country club playing golf with family and many friends.  As an avid golfer, Bill was always willing to mentor his family and friends with quick golf lesson or two. He was a member of Los Coyotes Country Club in Buena Park, California, Omaha Field Club in Omaha, Nebraska where he served as the club President for several years and Gleneagles Country Club in Plano, Texas.

Bill loved West Coast Jazz, Frank Sinatra and any western movie with a thousand extras. He was also a faithful Catholic.

Pat and family,
We are saddened to hear of Bill’s passing and are sending our sympathy and prayers to you and your family. Bill was a tremendous friend, neighbor and babysitter for Jimmy, Sarah and Leslie! He was patient, especially when his TV room became the new toy room. Bill watched thousands of Disney videos when he would much rather have been watching golf :) We really only heard him complain a few times and that was typically on Monday mornings after Jimmy had had a long weekend on the farm with his uncles. They would feed him deer sausage and his diapers were outrageous when he arrived back to you. Bill quickly deferred all those messes to Pat but not without some choice comments!
Bill was also extremely generous. Pat would take Jimmy and Sarah shopping and always come home with a lot of extras. I am sure Bill paid for most of those items, as babysitting was not that profitable. We thank you Bill for the care and relationships that you built with our family and children.
Probably the most memorable time was the trip to Disneyland! It was Jimmy‘s sixth birthday and Pats 60th. What a treat and what a trip!!! You guys were saints for taking all three children and the memories and pictures are still with us!
You have been missed in Nebraska but never forgotten. God bless you for the time with us and our children!

Jim, Janet, Leslie, Sarah snd Jimmy
