Charles was a beloved husband of Judith. He was the loving step-father of Jay Ratto and his wife Denise, and Jennifer Ratto. He was an adoring Pop of Jessica Evans and her husband Michael, Nicole Balzafiore and her husband PJ, John Ratto and his wife Jessica, Conrad Ratto, Brittany Staker and her husband Brian, and Daniel Bonneville. He was a proud great grand Pop of Lillian, Maisie, Mikey, Junio, Enzo, Fiorella, Olivia, Cameron, and Carter.
A hard-working and honest man, Charles devoted many years to serving others through his work with the United States Postal Service. After retirement, his steady sense of duty continued as he worked for the State of New York as a university Police Officer. In every role, he was known for a kind-hearted presence and a generous spirit—someone others could rely on, and who gave of himself without seeking recognition.
Charles also found deep satisfaction in woodworking, a pastime that reflected his patience, care, and the quiet pride he took in doing things well. He was also a member of the East Meadow Volunteer Fire Department, offering his time and commitment in service to the community.
Visitation will be held at Claude R. Boyd/Caratozzolo Funeral Home, 1785 Deer Park Ave, Deer Park, NY 11729, on November 1, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and again from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will be held at St. Matthew Roman Catholic Church, 35 N Service Rd, Dix Hills, NY 11746, on November 2, 2026, from 10:45 am to 11:30 am.
A Committal Service will be held at St. Isidore's Cemetery, 299 Reeves Ave #201, Riverhead, NY 11901, on November 2, 2026, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm.
