Alice Vasquez

Alice “Titi” Vasquez wasn't just beloved by her family, but also by a whole town. And that's pretty special. For 33 years, Alice was the heart of downtown Delano’s Gray’s Chili Dog stand, where generations remember not just the food, but her laugh, her smile, her way of making every person feel seen. Strangers didn't exist to her, everyone was a friend. She later worked at Delano High School, where students adored her in the cafeteria and the concession stands, and then with the California Youth Authority, where young people lovingly called her Mama Alice. Alice’s story was one of hard work and perseverance. She began working in the fields and through determination built a life she was proud of.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents: Daniel C. and Trinie Melendez. Husband: Charlie Vasquez, Son: Ronnie Bravo. She was married to, Charlie for 47 years, daughters: Cathy Lara (John); Ann Vasquez; grandchildren: R.C. Ortiz; Trinie Johnson (Alan); Anthony Lara (Maira Lopez); Vincent Lara (Angie); Alexander “Hondo” Lara (Brigett); and great-grandchildren: Desiree; Charleyann; Beau; Ellie; Abraham; Christopher; Andrew; Anthony; Alyssa “Cheeks”; Julissa; Sister: Mollie Moreno (Joe) and many cousins, nieces and nephews, friends.

Her grandkids remember her big heart and her generosity with trips to Dodgers and Giants games, train trips to San Francisco, days at the beach or Disneyland. In retirement, she poured her love into babysitting for her great-grandchildren and creating memories at the local cinema. She loved music, big family gatherings, from Super Bowl parties to moments over a shared laugh. Her voice was loud, her spirit larger than life, her heart even bigger. Alice leaves behind a legacy of hard work, generosity, and unconditional love. Her family and community will miss her deeply, but take comfort in knowing her laughter and stories and love will echo for generations.

Family and friends are invited to gather in her honor on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Parish, 916 Lexington St., Delano, CA 93215, for Family Visitation from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.

A Memorial Mass will follow on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal, 916 Lexington St, Delano, CA 93215, US, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

A Reception will be held afterward on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at St. Mary's School Hall, 1732 11th Ave., Delano, CA 93215, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
