I said “Goodbye” to a very special friend yesterday, Arturo T. Zamudio. It was the July of 1984, when I was walking by the pallet strapping line at Columbine Vineyards cold storage with my forklift foreman “Juan”, when I notice this kid strapping pallets. I asked Juan, “Who is that kid? I was told “just a new guy they we're trying out.” How old is he? “16”, Juan replied. I said “are you sure, he looks like a kid”, Juan said “yes”. I now know, 35 years later, he had just turned 15.

For the next 35 years, Art has followed me from job to job and has been a highly valued employee of mine ever since. Arturo was much more than an employee though, he was extremely hard working, dedicated, loyal and above all, he was my friend, brother and the backbone of my story.

Art became ill about 4 years ago, and even though his treatments took allot out of him, he insisted on showing up to give it his all, that’s who he was! It didn’t matter if he was pushing his crew to install a 600 acre irrigation system or simply feeding the goats, it was always 100%. I can honestly say that I never heard Art say, “Oh, that’s good enough”.

I miss him so much, Thank you Arturo.

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” Matthew 11:28

Rest in Peace my friend. Love you forever,
Until we meet again.
Your brother Ed.
