De Gracia Family

The Conrado/Clarita Abuyen family was welcomed into our home in Aug of 1969.
We initially called them Uncle Conrado and Auntie Clarita...then we heard our parents call them both Babe.... So, they became Uncle and Auntie Babe to us...that is how connected they were..they shared their heart, their soul, their last name AND their nicknames.

The family stayed with us....we were one big happy family. And that is how the Abuyen-DeGracia family reunions started. In the 1990's they took the family togetherness to another level. We started having family reunions by going camping.

We camped mainly in Santa Maria/San Luis Obispo area with the Abuyens in that area. The importance of family and the interest in camping was past on to the next generations...and we still enjoy it to this day.

Dearest Uncle Babe...we will miss your smiles, your easy going nature and your quiet laughs when you are listening or telling a joke. We will especially miss the times when you were teasing Auntie, and you would give that "sideways grin" to let the rest of us know to play along. The love between you and Auntie is so genuine and refreshing, that it is nice to be around you.

Your open arms and very giving nature is what makes you special. You are now in the open arms of Our Father in Heaven. Enjoy the peace and the light! You are very much missed and loved by the whole family.

Summer, Mandy and all the grandkids: your grandpa's death leaves a heartache that no one can heal, but his love for you leaves a memory that no one can steal. Remember that your grandpa is in your heart.... He is always there for you...

To Jr, Lennie, Hector, Jesse, Lisa.....Treasure your memories. Our love and prayers are with you.

And To Jr/Faye, and Auntie, thank you for allowing me to help you and be there for Uncle this past year. I am always on call for you....WE LOVE YOU!!!

I remember Cousin Babe for his passion, love of family and his ready smile. I think of the professional life he left behind in the Phillippines to come to the US and start a new life for his family, for the many years of dedicated and faithful marriage to Clarita, for his passionate faith and the love of God he expressed. Babe was never timid. Whenever and wherever the family gathered, Babe and Clarita were there. They were rarely alone, and I know how much she is going to miss him. Of all the reunions, baptisms, weddings, celebrations and funerals we all attended together, I hold the image of your golden wedding anniversary very dear---the songs, tributes and celebration with the next generations in attendance. May these generations hold close their memories of him and pass them on to their own children, may you share the stories and the laughter--because that is as he would wish it--a celebration of life--his new life in eternity.
