Erlinda was born on April 2, 1942 in Tanauan, Leyte, Philippines, to Juan and Pilar Espina. She graduated from Assumption Academy. She would travel from the Philippines to the United States in the mid-1960’s and would later meet and then marry Pedro Dona Arengo in 1968. She was a hard worker who, for over 30 years, worked in various parts of the food industry. She worked in carrot packing at Belridge and Grimmway farms. She worked in the Alaskan fish factories and she worked as a farmworker in Delano’s grape fields.
She was a strong woman who loved life. She was a dedicated Lakers fan, who enjoyed spending as much time as she could in the local casinos around Delano. She also loved traveling and exploring new places and experiences whenever she was able. Most of all, she loved watching her granddaughters and all of their different events, and spending as much time with them as she could. All those who knew her will remember her for her zest for life who encouraged everyone to experience as much of life as possible.
She is survived by her sister, Asuncion Espina of Tanauan, Leyte Philippines; her daughter, Lorenza Arengo Yarnes (Rick) of La Crescenta, California; and her granddaughters, Sierra Linda Yarnes and Samara Anne Yarnes, also from La Crescenta, California. She is preceded in death by her husband, Pedro Dona Arengo and her son, Pete Arengo.
