Felicitas Darapiza, 87, was born on October 30, 1938, in Sison, Pangasinan, Philippines, and passed away on April 21, 2026. A resident of Bakersfield, California, Felicitas will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection by all who were fortunate to know her.
Through years of steady work as a manufacturing production worker, Felicitas showed a quiet strength and perseverance that never sought attention, yet earned it all the same. She carried herself with purpose and dignity, meeting life with resilience and a thoughtful care for the people around her.
Felicitas also knew how to bring lightness into everyday moments. Her sense of humor could ease a room, and her warmth made others feel at home. She delighted in the simple pleasures that made life feel full—shopping, dancing, time at the casino, and tending to her garden. With an eye for style that matched her spirit, she was a true fashionista, always expressing herself with confidence and grace.
Her love for family was unmistakable, especially in the generous way she poured herself into her grandchildren’s lives. She was known, too, for her endearing habit of checking in—“Where is so & so”—and for keeping a careful, loving “inventory” of her family members, a reflection of how closely she held each person in her heart.
Felicitas found connection and community through the Filipino Community Club, where her presence and fellowship were valued. She leaves a legacy of devotion, steady effort, and a kindness that was both practical and profound.
Felicitas was preceded in death by her husband, Ladislao Darapiza. She is survived by her daughters, Valerie Tayco, Lisa Marcos, and Rosie Soriano.
