Imogene was born to Walter and Omie Black in Comanche, Texas. The family moved to Pond, California in 1931 where Imogene attended school and met her future husband, Morris Ludy. While her family farmed in the Pond area, Imogene worked in the school cafeteria and attended classes. Morris and Imogene married soon after graduating from Delano High School and started a life together that included Morris working on the farm while Imogene started the makings of their new home.
It was not long until Janice arrived on the scene and then Jack and Jim. Imogene had begun a seventy year career as a full time homemaker. Imogene was room mother, chauffeur, cheerleader and cook. She was always there for her children through the everyday turmoil of raising a family. She never missed wrestling match, football or baseball game, music lesson or field trip. She was the best Mother a child could have. Being the youngest of five siblings, Imogene enjoyed spending time with her brothers and sisters and was always helpful in times of need. Grandchildren soon took the center stage of Mom's nurturing. Her home became the get-away place for Shelly, Marie, Jacquelyn, Jennifer and Brent. Through the years Imogene welcomed others into the fold with Kami, Austin, Rielyn, Bella, Sophie, Dylan, Jerod, and Addison joining the family.
Imogene love ceramics, depression glass, swap meets, and cooking casseroles. She made the world's best tamale pie! She was and always will be an inspiration to her family and friends.
Imogene was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Omie Black, brothers, Aubrey and Eugene Black, sisters, Etha McDonald and Minnie Mae Coleman. She is survived by children, Janice Maxwell and husband Floyd, Jack Ludy, and wife Roberta and Jim Ludy and wife Caroline. Grandchildren Shelly, Marie, Jacquelyn, Jennifer, Brent, and Kami. Great grand children Austin, Rielyn, Isabella, Sophia, Dylan, Addison and Jerod, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was loved by all and will be dearly missed.
