September 23, 1937 – March 19, 2023
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, mother, and grandmother, Isabelita Labrador Caluya, on March 19, 2023. Ining, who she was referred to, had a beautiful soul and lived a full life and touched the hearts of many during her time with us. Isabelita reached the dear age of 85.
Isabelita was born on September 23, 1937 in Lubnac, Vintar, Ilocos Norte Philippines to Tirso and Juana Labrador. She grew up in Lubnac alongside her siblings, Leticia, Julie, Cary, Gerardo, Ernesto, Jose (Pepe) and Felicia, whom she remained close to throughout her life.
Manang Sabel was a loving and devoted sister, always willing to lend a listening ear and a helping hand to her family and friends. She was an instrument in most of the migrations of her siblings. She met and married Patricio and together they raised Melania, Alan and Karen. Manang Sabel was a dedicated mother who loved her children unconditionally and always put their needs before her own. She was a constant source of love, support, and encouragement to her family, and her presence in their lives was her legacy.
As a grandmother, Isabelita was the epitome of love and kindness and brought endless happiness to her grandchildren – Anthony Carabay, Race and Zeve Caluya. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she always had a special place in her heart for each and every one of them. She was an exceptional person, who had a profound impact on all of their lives. From the moment they were born, she showered them with love, kindness, and attention and her warm and gentle nature made her the perfect grandparent, and her grandchildren all adored her. Her kind and gentle nature made her an instant favorite, and she will be remembered by her grandchildren for the love and warmth she gave them.
Others also knew Manang Sabel for her generosity and kindness. She was a friend to many and without any hesitation, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her loving and caring spirit touched the lives of countless people, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Gardening was a main passion that has been with Isabelita for as long as we can remember. The act of nurturing plants and watching them grow into beautiful and healthy specimens gave her immense joy and a sense of fulfillment. Ultimately, the real joy of gardening was her satisfaction that came from seeing the fruits of her labor and the wonderful dishes she created for families to enjoy.
She will be remembered for her infectious smile, her kind heart, and her unwavering devotion to her family. Although we are deeply saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing that Isabelita is now at peace and reunited with Patricio and with all the loved ones who have passed before her. Her presence in our lives was a true blessing and her memory will live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew her. We will forever be grateful and cherish the joy, love, warmth and happiness that Isabelita brought into all of our lives.
Rest in peace, dear Isabelita, Mom, Manang Sabel, Manang Ining. Your light will continue to shine in the hearts of those you loved, and you will be forever loved and missed.
