Joy Edwards

Joy Edwards June 04, 1939 - May 23, 2013 Joy passed away peacefully on May 23, 2013. She was married to Bob Edwards for over 50 years until his passing in June of 2008. Joy lived in the Delano/Alpaugh area her entire life. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren. Mom always made time to give great advice and had an amazing sense of humor. She loved to travel and saw many wonders of the world from the Grand Canyon, the painted deserts, to the caves at Carlsbad Caverns. She especially loved the outdoors and the California Coast line from the forests to the tide pools at the state beach in Avila. She has traveled to Europe, Hawaii, and other beautiful places in the world. Joy loved spending her free time reading a good novel and sewing. Joy spent many years working in Banking and before retiring she worked for Alpaugh Unified School district. Mom is survived by her five children Steve, Perry, Chris, Kevin, and Lisa. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, two brothers and one sister. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bob Edwards, and her grandson Steven Edwards. The family would like to give special thanks to the owner and staff at Rose Garden assisted living in Bakersfield for the wonderful care and comfort mom received in her final days. Graveside services will be held at Delano Cemetery on June 10th. at 10:00 a.m.
