I remember my mother-in-law would scold the “two musketeers” my father-in-law and Uncle Johnny before they went out to breakfast; “don’t eat pancakes, you both have diabetes, it’s bad for you and will eventually kill you.” They’d always answer back with, “well at least we’ll die happy.” Well Mom you were right, they’re gone and you’re still here! Somehow, I think they got the better end of the deal. Think about it, they’re in Heaven happy, running and jumping with our Lord and Savior, and you’re still stuck on earth with us! Just saying!

The years in Porterville in Little Johnny’s words were the best of times for him and his dad, because it enabled them to re-connect and build upon their father & son relationship. Uncle Johnny became famous around the Target and Walmart shopping area. Everyone new his name, he got free popcorn at Target, probably free meals at Denny’s & discounts on his haircuts. We’d take him to mass as often as possible and I really enjoyed taking him once a year to San Francisco 49er games. We really enjoyed those times together. I will never forget his laughter. It didn’t matter which part of the valley we were driving in; he would look at a specific orchard of trees and tell the same story about what happened years ago at that particular location. I guess the same exact thing happened at five different locations in the San Joaquin Valley. Last Sunday we were celebrating Easter at our house and my father told me, I remember when your father-in-law was still alive, and we were here for an Easter celebration talking and laughing right here under your patio with Uncle Johnny. He went on to say those were some good times.

Matthew 25:23 His Master replied, Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with the few things; I will now put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!

Uncle Johnny, enjoy your pancakes in the happiness of Heaven!

From the day that I met your dad I felt his beautiful love and kindness towards our family. One of my favorite memories of your dad is when he came for Thanksgiving and he brought us a cake. He said he didn't eats sweets but then he asked for a piece and after eating it he said it wasn't sweet enough...lol. Another memory is when he and my mom would love listening to the oldie but goodies... I lost my mom last year💔 Now they are both in heaven dancing to their oldies. Also when we went to visit him at his house he was so loving and welcoming to us and he was happy to give us a tour of his home. Now your dad and my mom are our heavenly guardian angels, They will always be in our heart, We love and miss you both so very much❤🙏🕊✝️🌹🌻
