Lucy Avalos Rivas born Nov. 17, 1929 in Delano, California. Born to Julian Avalos, father and Petra Vidales Avalos, mother. Lucy lived in Delano, California most of her life. She attended and graduated Delano High School. She met Manuel "Chito" Rivas. They married June 1951. At this time, her Love Manuel (Chito) Rivas left for the United States Army after being married less than two weeks. She stayed home in Delano with her in-laws. She started working for the Delano Elementary School District in 1966. She retired in 1997 as Supervisor at the main kitchen for Delano Elementary School District. She worked for the elementary school district for 31 years.
Lucy Met Armando Jimenez in 1992. They became Friends, Companions, and they loved each other. Armando Passed away October 30, 2019. She was also a member of the LACA Club (Latin American Community Association) 1960-1970.
All the while, raising 4 children, Son Chris & Violet Rivas, Daughter Mary Ellen & Guillermo Jr. Perez, Son Manuel & Elsie Rivas, and Son Julian & Heidi Rivas. After the loss of her Loving Husband Manuel (Chito) Rivas in September 1989, she remained in their home and enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, sewing, she loved to dance to "In The Mood", Loved watching sports; NFL Football, NBA Basketball, Track and Field, the Winter and Summer Olympics, Horse Racing and started to make homemade flour tortillas (again) and started embroidering kitchen cloth towels.
She leaves her only living siblings, sister Lubina Ahumada, sister Ernestine Renteria, and brother Julian Avalos.She leaves 13 Grandchildren: Katrina & Richard Matus, Desiree & Eduardo Munoz, Chris Jr. Rivas, Adrian & Jana Perez, Guillermo III & Annalisa Perez, Breanna & Michael Garcia, Brent & Sierra Rivas, Grace Rivas, Olivia & Vincent Alcorta, Jeffery Fabiano, Johnny Fabiano, Julian Jr. Rivas and Joshua Rivas.She leaves 19 Great Grandchildren: Katlyn Matus, Ashley Matus, Ricky Matus, Johnathan Rivas, Eddie Munoz, Vanessa Munoz, Chris Ill Rivas, Cali Rivas. Mark Perez, Delilah & Raymond Osorno, Jada Parker, Guillermo IV Perez, Salem Perez, Luke Garcia, Sydney Garcia, Easton Garcia, Greyson Rivas, Layla Rivas and Aleeya Rivas. She leaves 3 Great, Great Grandchildren: Angelia Osorno, Layla Osorno and Roy Osorno. She also leaves numerous Nieces and Nephews that she adored and Loved very much.
