Mary Carrillo Salazar, of Delano, California, the Matriarch of our family, age 93 passed away peacefully on Monday, December 27, 2021. Mary was born October 24, 1928 in Porterville, California to Porfirio & Nicanora Carrillo.
Mary is survived by her children, Sandra Salazar Lara, Larry Serna, Angel Serna Jr & Alice
Salazar; and her siblings Manuel Aza, Annie Beltran, Jessie Flores & Jenaro Aza. She leaves
behind 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. Mary is preceded in death by her parents Porfirio Carrillo & Nicanora Carrillo Aza; her son Tony Jr Salazar and daughter Rosie Parra; sisters Herlinda Bravo, Dolores Penalver,
Jennie Aza and brothers Eusebio Carrillo & Mike Carrillo and son-in-law Aurelio Lara.
Mary was a caring and generous person and a hard worker. She worked as a Foreman for Pandol & Sons for many years until she became disabled. Mom loved to sing, dance and joke around and make people laugh. She loved Mariachi music and her favorite artist was Vicente
Fernandez. She was known for her "refried beans", they were the best! If you knew my mother, you knew what a character she was. If you didn't know her, there's no doubt she would have made a lasting impression on you. Mom would give her clothes off her back for you. She
enjoyed crocheting and reading the bible, watching TV novelas, talking on the phone and always enjoyed reading "The Star & The National Enquirer". She loved to have her hair & nails done. Till the end, Mom continued to laugh and constantly joke & smile when my sister and I visited her. She would happily wave at her grandchildren through Face Times as they were her pride and joy and always had a hug for her great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are Steven Serna, Larry John Serna, Raymond Serna, Jonathan Serna, Adrian Lara, David Lara, Daniel Lara, Andrew Uribe, Larry Serna Sr., Fernando Bravo, Samuel Rivera Sr., Michael Serna, Danny Uribe and Leonardo Munoz.
