In loving memory of Modesta Martinez Hinojosa, age 85, of Delano, CA, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Edinburg, TX, to Norberto Martinez and Nieves Santana Martinez, and grew up in a large, close knit family. Even as life took her far from TX, she remained deeply connected to her siblings, cherishing every call, every memory, and every bond.
She met the love of her life, Felix Hinojosa, in Texas, and together they built a marriage that lasted 61 years. They made their home in Delano, CA, where they raised six children: Raul, Isabel, Ricardo, Rene, Ruben, and Irma. She was a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, and a homemaker who poured her heart into creating a warm, loving home for her family.
She was a faithful and dedicated Jehovah’s Witness, known for her kindness, humility, and unwavering trust in Jehovah’s promises. She loved her spiritual family deeply and found joy in sharing her faith, encouraging others, and living a life guided by hope and compassion.
She is survived by her children Isabel, Ricardo, Rene, Ruben, and Irma, as well as her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Felix, and her son Raul.
Her greatest joy was her family — both the one she was born into and the one she built. Her gentle spirit, her laughter, her stories, and her steady presence will be remembered forever. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and unity. To her family, she was our strength, our comfort, and our example. We loved her dearly, and we will miss her more than words can express.
