Born and raised in Bacnotan, La Union, Philippines, Ofelia studied midwifery before moving to the United States in her late 20s. With a heart devoted to caring for others, she worked first as a CNA and later as a Mental Health Worker at Bakersfield Behavioral Health, where she dedicated 17 years of compassionate service.
Ofelia was a devoted wife to Dionicio (Junior) and a beloved sister to Penny, Willy, and Tessie. She was the proud mother of Kelly, Nicole, and Ashley, and cherished grandmother to Jeremiah, Atlas, and Lucy. She also loved her sons-in-law, Joseph and Alexander.
Her home was always filled with warmth and laughter. Ofelia loved to garden, host lively gatherings, and share good food with family and friends. She had a special gift for making everyone feel welcome—her door was always open, and her table always full.
For 17 years, Ofelia opened her heart and home to foster children, caring for each one as her own. Her generosity, patience, and selflessness touched countless lives.
Ofelia will be remembered as a kind-hearted, faithful, and hard-working woman who lived her life guided by love. She believed deeply in family and community, and her nurturing spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her.
Her family extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who visited and supported her, especially during her final months. A special expression of gratitude goes to her sister and best friend, Penny, and to her nieces and nephews who stood by her side.
Ofelia’s Catholic faith was a constant source of strength and peace throughout her life. She is now home in heaven, where her love continues to shine through the hearts of those she leaves behind.
