Remigio Abalos Salango

Born in San Fernando, La Union Philippines, Remigio’s early years revealed a steady devotion to family. As the third eldest of six, he carried responsibility with quiet strength—often serving as the homemaker when the family was younger, cooking and cleaning for his brothers and parents at the urging of his mother and father. In those everyday acts, his selflessness and hard-working spirit were already unmistakable, offered with an affectionate care that made others feel looked after.

In his working life, Remigio served as a ship quartermaster, a role that suited his readiness for duty and his adventurous heart. He later worked as a foreman at a seafood processing plant, bringing the same diligence and reliability to every day’s labor. In time, some of his most meaningful hours were spent watching over his grandchildren—present, attentive, and generous with both time and love.

At home, Remigio created a place that reflected both discipline and warmth: tidy, comforting, and always welcoming to others. Music often filled the house, and he found satisfaction in gardening—patient work that, like so much of his life, was done with care. He was known for home-cooked meals, a distinct sense of style, and wise words of wisdom—often delivered with a gentle humor that could lighten a room without ever diminishing what mattered.

Remigio is remembered with love as the father of six children and the grandfather of 12 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ian Abitago, Giancarlo Beltran, Edgar Penado, Kevin Del Yap Manzano, Austin James Agpalo Manzano, Sanny Abitago Jr., Anderson Agudo Salango Jr., and Rene Sedenio.

Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Delano, 707 Browning Rd., Delano, CA 93215, on August 26, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm. A Rosary will be held there on August 26, 2026, at 6:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Parish, 916 Lexington St., Delano, CA 93215, on August 27, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. Committal Service will follow at North Kern District Cemetery, 627 Austin St., Delano, CA 93215, on August 27, 2026, from 10:00 am to 10:30 am.
