Serafin Madrigal Mendez

He was born on November 24th, 1962, in Tangancícuaro, Michoacán, Mexico, to Ramón and Soledad Méndez. At the young age of four, Serafin came to the United States and later attended Delano High School.

He worked as a farm laborer for many years before following his entrepreneurial spirit and opening a business with his former partner, Teresa Maldonado. Together, they proudly co-owned Mi Nayarit Restaurant for 35 years, where their hard work and dedication became a cornerstone of the community. Serafin and Teresa also shared a beloved daughter, Lissette Méndez.

Outside of work, Serafin enjoyed taking trips to Las Vegas, discovering new restaurants, lifting weights, and spending time with his grandchildren and his girlfriend, Mari. He also found great joy in listening to Los Bukis, whose music always filled him with nostalgia and happiness.

Serafin was known in the community of Delano as a generous and giving man; and a dedicated worker. To some he was a serious man of few words. To others, he cracked jokes and was playful.

He is survived by his daughter, Lissette; his cherished grandchildren, Olivia, Arya, and August; his siblings, María de Jesús, Luz María, Alicia, Ramón, and Sylvia; and his loving girlfriend, María Flores. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ramón and Soledad Méndez.

Services for Serafin will be held on October 28th. A viewing will take place at Funeraria Del Angel in Delano from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with a Rosary from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Church services will be held on October 29th at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, followed by burial at North Kern Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.

Serafin will forever be remembered and cherished by many.

Nació el 24 de noviembre de 1962 en Tangancícuaro, Michoacán, México, hijo de Ramón y Soledad Méndez. A la temprana edad de cuatro años, Serafín llegó a los Estados Unidos, donde más tarde asistió a la preparatoria de Delano High School.

Trabajó como jornalero agrícola durante muchos años antes de seguir su espíritu emprendedor y abrir un negocio junto a su ex pareja, Teresa Maldonado. Fuera del trabajo, Serafín disfrutaba de hacer viajes a Las Vegas, descubrir nuevos restaurantes, levantar pesas, y pasar tiempo con sus nietos y su novia, Mari. También encontraba gran alegría al escuchar a Los Bukis, cuya música siempre lo llenaba de nostalgia y felicidad.

Serafín fue conocido en la comunidad de Delano como un hombre generoso y trabajador. Para algunos era un hombre serio y de pocas palabras; para otros, era bromista y juguetón.

Le sobreviven su hija, Lissette; sus amados nietos, Olivia, Arya y August; sus hermanos, María de Jesús, Luz María, Alicia, Ramón y Slivia; y su querida novia, María Flores. Le precedieron en muerte sus padres, Ramón y Soledad Méndez.

Los servicios fúnebres para Serafín se llevarán a cabo el 28 de Octubre. La velación se realizará en la Funeraria Del Angel en Delano de 4:00 p.m. a 10:00 p.m., con el rezo del rosario de 5:00 p.m. a 6:00 p.m.

La misa se celebrará el 29 de Octubre a la 1:00 p.m. en la iglesia Our Lady of Guadalupe, seguida del sepelio en el panteón North Kern a las 2:00 p.m.

Serafín será recordado y querido por muchos, por siempre.
