Services for Ruby Gertrude Haug,81, of 8423 Norwich St., Westminster, CO. There will be a memorial service on Wednesday at 11:00 am at Olinger Moore Howard Chapel, 46th and Tennyson. Ruby passed on Thursday morning after a long illness.
Ruby was born on March 12, 1929, to Mervin and Berdilla Korrell. Ruby was born raised and graduated in Cheyenne Wells CO. Ruby met and fell in love and almost immediately married Olin (Louie) Haug on August 9, 1947 in Sidney Nebraska. They began their family with the birth of their first daughter, Lana on March 27, 1949. Rebecca, (Becky) December 13, 1950 and Bonnie on September 10, 1953. During their early years Ruby held various jobs to help support their family in. They traveled throughout the Central United States and Canada harvesting. They had homes in many cities such as Dodge City, Liberal and Colby, they owned and ran two restaurants. In 1963, they moved to Westminster, CO moving in to the home she lived and raised her family. While living in Westminster she was a cook and waitress at Berry’s-Reeses Restaurant then moved on to run the kitchen at the Westminster Elks Club, then Woolco until the store closed moving to a Woolworth where she retired in 1994. Ruby was a member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Loyalty Chapter #145 Order of the Eastern Star and Amaranth Harmony Court #4 for many years throughout her lifetime. After retiring, Ruby traveled and visited friends and family, doing research to create the genealogy on both Olin’s and Ruby’s family. Her traveling companion for a three-week trip was Fern Haug, sister in law. Both, Fern and Ruby enjoyed the trip and their time; they spent with family and friends they met along the way. Ruby also traveled to see her brother, Robert in Wyoming and her sister Dora, Harry her brother and sister-in-law Rita, in Cheyenne Wells, CO. She also visited her daughters and their families as well as extended family in Washington quite often, sometimes flying and sometimes driving to enjoy the scenery along the way. Ruby was preceded in death by husband Olin (Louie); stepson Randall Smeltzer; Grandchildren Larry Wayne Smeltzer, Ruby Anne Dawn Brancio Tidwell, Robert Lee Sumpter. She is survived by Lana Haug, Becky and Louie(Bud) Dark, Bonnie and Bob Tidwell, daughter in law; Mary Smeltzer. Grand children Bill and Danielle Smeltzer, Miste Smeltzer and Rick Miller, John and Tiffany Tidwell, Franklin and Pearl Sumpter and Krystle Tidwell and Great Grandchildren Andrew, Anthony, Reannon and Samantha Sumpter. Brother Robertl (Hazel) Korrell, Sister in law Betty Korrell, as well as numerous other friends and family.
