Bro. Albert Charles McCoy Sr.

Albert Charles McCoy, Sr., 77, of DeQuincy, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at The Care Center of DeQuincy. He was born to his late parents, Secges and Mamie McCoy on July 28, 1941 in Eunice, LA. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and building various projects. He worked at Livingston Shipyard for 9 years where he was a Sandblaster, and then worked for Boise Southern for 11 years. He then went to work for Penton Sawmill where he retired after 5 years. He was proud of being baptized under the leadership of Pastor Marvin L. Durgan, where he was a member of Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 59 years, Ida McCoy; three sons, John McCoy of Houston, TX, Don McCoy of Beaumont, TX, Albert McCoy, Jr. of DeQuincy, LA; three daughters, Patsy McCoy Simien of Sulphur, LA, Roxanne McCoy of DeQuincy, LA, Lora Ann McClean of California; one brother, Willie McCoy of Seattle, WA; four sisters, Beatrice Litt of Seattle, WA, Berlene Baddox of New Mexico, Merlene Jones of California, Evelyn Bodine; four grandchildren, Tamika L. Learson and husband “Jerome” of Baton Rouge, LA, Jasmine Goffney and Roshonda Goffney, both of DeQuincy, LA, Robert McClean of California; one great granddaughter, Mikah Lyn Learson; one brother and sister-in-law, Alvin and Lucinda Skinner of DeQuincy, LA and another sister-in-law, Hazel Jackson of Los Angeles, California.

Albert is preceded in death by his daughter, Veronica McCoy; parents; five brothers; and one sister.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 11:00am at Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Pastor Marvin L. Durgan officiating. Visitation will be at the Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Saturday, from 9:00am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Community Cemetery. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
