A. “Josephine” Moore, 86, of Singer, passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Harbor Hospice in Lake Charles. She was born to her late parents, Thomas and Pearl Pierce on August 17, 1932 in Nancy, TX. She was a loving wife, greatest mother in the world, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. Josephine was a charter member of Hargrove Bible Baptist Church, where she started the card ministry for the military. She had most recently been a member of Singer Baptist Church, where she loved to sing. Josephine loved working in her flower garden and was a stay at home mom, which she took great pride in.
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Charles Ray Moore; son, William Moore and wife Mary; two daughters, Susan Myers and husband Tim, Shirley Lyons and husband Blake, all of Singer; three brothers, Jackie Pierce of Singer, Sam Pierce and wife Mary of DeQuincy, Drew Pierce and wife Gale of Florida; two sisters, Jean Evelyn Bryant of Florida, Carolyn Burnett of DeQuincy; seven grandchildren, Nick Myers, Ashley Hardee, Steven Moore, Alexis Lyons, Amanda Lyons, Amber Smith, Aaron Parker; thirteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Josephine is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Avery Pierce, Sr., Roscoe Pierce, Jimmy Pierce; three sisters, PeeWee McLain, Maxine Long, Nancy Thomas; granddaughter, Amy Lyons; and great granddaughter, Audriey Moore.
A private memorial service at Hyatt Cemetery will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Local Food Bank in DeQuincy (COC), Dry Creek Baptist Camp, and the Alzheimer’s Association.
