Amber Louise (Burney) Wylie was born January 10, 1929 and passed from this life July 14, 2026 in DeQuincy, Louisiana at the age of 97 years, 6 months, and 4 days. She is affectionately known as mom, mother, aunt, maw maw, Gramber, and friend.
Amber is survived by daughters, Bonnie Burge, Fran Barnett, and Cindi Franks. She left a wonderful legacy to a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She considered many others as her family. Amber had a strong love and appreciation to her Heart of Hospice family, particularly Ashley Schecher.
Amber Wylie was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Paul Wylie; son, C.P. Wylie; beloved daughter-in-law and son-in-law, Lou Joyce Wylie and Jesse Franks respectively.
Amber Wylie was a true proverbs woman. Her life was aligned to Proverbs 31:29. "There are many virtuous and capable women but you surpass them all." She was a gentle soul-a peacemaker with no known enemies. She loved unconditionally and it took very little to make her happy.
Mr. Gary Cooper, former Mayor and dear friend said it best. He said, "Amber Wylie is a class act-a classy lady-strong, humble, dignified, and kind. She will be fondly remembered by all who loved her and knew her.
A Celebration of Amber's life will be held at DeQuincy Church of Christ on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at 2:00 pm, with Joey Franks and Ron Riggs officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday beginning at 12:00 pm until the time of the service. Burial will be at Bivens Cemetery in Bancroft, Louisiana.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ghana African Mission in memory of Ray Franks sent to the attention of the Church of Christ in DeQuincy, P.O. Box 1104, DeQuincy, Louisiana, 70633, or to a charity of your choice.
