Mrs. Brown was such an inspiring teacher! She wanted everyone to read, read, read! I'll never forget watching a scene of "Gone with the Wind" in her class and she pointed out that Scarlett was smiling because she and Rhett had a good night. She just giggled over it and every time I watch that movie I think of Mrs. Brown laughing at Scarlett!! When my younger son read a Mary Higgins Clark book in his English class this semester, I told him I also read a book by that author because Mrs. Brown loved her. So she had us reading everything from "Gone with the Wind" to Mary Higgins Clark. I can't pick up a book today and expect to accomplish anything else because I hate to put the book down. Thanks, Mrs. Brown!!

My deepest sympathy for such a wonderful person. I began my teaching career in 1971 at Dequincy High. I was 21 and Betty was such a warm and caring person for me to be mentored by her. She was just reeling from the loss of her son at the time and I would find her in the bathroom crying her eyes out. I just held her and she helped comfort me in my learning situation of a first year teacher. Heaven has just claimed one amazing woman. I know she is taking over something up there with her husband and son. May God bless her family in the fullest sense of the word. We have all been truly blessed by having known her.
