David Wayne Shirley

Dave was born in DeRidder and lived most of his life in DeQuincy. He was a member of First Baptist Church of DeQuincy. He was an avid LSU fan and loved to fish. He retired from CenturyTel after many years of service. He was recognized as the employee of the year his last 5 years of employment at CenturyTel. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. David loved his wife, children, and grandchildren with all his heart.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Brenda Marcantel Shirley of DeQuincy; son, Hank Livingston Shirley and wife Gina Keller of Baton Rouge; daughter, Sarah Shirley Puerta and husband John Mark Puerta; brother, Gayle Shirley of DeQuincy; sister, Frankie Travis of DeQuincy; and 6 grandchildren.

His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at First Baptist Church of DeQuincy. Rev. Rob Walls will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Perkins Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 11, 2013 and will resume at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday until the time of service all at the First Baptist Church of DeQuincy.
