

He was born and raised in DeQuincy, where he remained a lifelong resident. He graduated from DeQuincy High School with the graduating class of 1964. He worked for and retired from the Calcasieu Parish Gravity Drainage District. He was also a Heavy Equipment Operator at Cities Service (Citgo), and in his earlier years, he was employed with the KCS Railroad. He also served as a Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Reserve Deputy and was a member of the Louisiana IUOE Local 406 for Heavy Equipment Operators.
Dennis had a lifetime love of all things music. He learned to play a guitar on his own as a young man and further learned many more instruments along the way. He played in many local bands and enjoyed having music get togethers with friends and family at his home. He passed his love of music on to many others, including his wife, Anita!
He is survived by his wife, Anita Ann Suchanek; daughter, Jill Denise Suchanek; son, Mark Steven (Rhonda) Suchanek; daughter in law, Heather Suchanek and children, Brayden (Sara) and Kailynn (“KK”); grandchildren, Jeremy, Kendra, Jeffrey (Kylee), Michael “Bubba”, Jessica (Clay), Jaylee; and seventeen great grandchildren; bonus children and grandchildren, Cody (Lisa) Racca, (Kayden, Macie, Dylan, Ethan); Lisa Jo (Rob) Laffey, (Jason, Lauren) and Chuck (Vanessa) Racca.
He is preceded in death by his former wife, Doris Richard Suchanek; son, Michael Eugene Suchanek; grandson, Mark Anthony Weber; father, William G. Suchanek; mother, Fern Annie Rainwater Suchanek; brothers, Richard Donald (Billy) Suchanek, John Wayne (Jacky) Suchanek, James Huey Long (Jimmy) Suchanek, Robert W. (Bobby) Suchanek, Douglas Neil Suchanek; and sister, Betty Jean Suchanek Hammerly.
A Celebration of Dennis’ life will be held at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy, Louisiana on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 2:00 pm, with Bro. Scott Streams officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, beginning at 10:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery in DeQuincy, Louisiana.
