Edgar Irvine Hayes, 72, of DeQuincy, passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. He was born to parents, Irvine and Willie Hayes on January 16, 1946 in DeQuincy. He enjoyed traveling, listening to music, golfing, reading, and fishing. At the top of his list, he loved being with his family, and would always try to attend his grandchildren’s games and activities. From the time he started school and retired as a school administrator, he had spent 50 years in Education. He graduated from Jeff Davis High School in Houston, TX; attended Wharton County Jr. College; The University of Houston where he received his Master’s; and continued his post graduate degree at McNeese State University.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Kyra Hayes; one daughter, Jill Hayes and partner Christine Murillo of Spring, TX;three sons, Joe Hayes and wife Megan of DeQuincy, Andy Hayes and wife Steffanie of Azle, TX, Cliff Hayes of DeQuincy; eight grandchildren, Gabriel, Brittani, Logan, Tanner, Olivia, Grayson, Wyatt, and Bowen. Edgar is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Jody Woodard; along with his father in law, Woody Wilson.
Services will be held at First Baptist Church of DeQuincy, on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 2:00pm with Bro. Gil Arthur officiating. Visitation will be at Hixson Snider Funeral Home of DeQuincy on Monday, May 28, 2018 from 5:00-9:00pm. Visitation will resume at First Baptist Church of DeQuincy on Tuesday, from 12:00pm until the time of the service.
