

Born on August 19, 1931, in Hattiesburg, Miss., Liz moved to DeQuincy at an early age. She was a majorette at DeQuincy High School and graduated in 1950 in the first 12th grade class.
She attended Southwestern Louisiana Institute, (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette) for two years and majored in English. She moved to Houston and joined the Humble Oil Company as a secretary. In Houston she met the love of her life, William “Bill” Fetner and they were married in 1959. Liz and Bill soon moved to Flint, Mich., where Bill worked for General Motors as an auditor. In 1965 the Fetner family moved to DeQuincy. Liz became involved in numerous civic clubs and organizations. She was a member and served as an officer in the Friendship Club and Federated Women’s Club. She was Girl Scout Troop Leader and a member of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution. She served as a census worker in the 1970s and 80s and volunteered for many church activities and at the DeQuincy Railroad Museum. Liz and Bill enjoyed being members of “The Supper Club” and spending time with their many friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Anne Fetner Cobb, and husband, Roger, of Sulphur; son, William “Billy” Fetner, of Graham, Wash.; granddaughter, Jessica Cobb Choate, and husband, Justin, of Sulphur; and great grandchildren, Dalton and Rio, of Sulphur.
Liz was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her mother, Elizabeth Beall Perkins; and step-father, Shirley Perkins.
Her service will be at 11 a.m., Monday, April 13, 2015 at First Baptist Church of DeQuincy with Rev. Gill Arthur Officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, April 12, 2015 from 2p.m. to 7p.m. at Snider Funeral Home, 205 West Harrison St. in DeQuincy, and on Monday from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Liz’s honor may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home.
