Gary Dykes Goodman

Gary Dykes Goodman, 89, of DeQuincy, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2026. He was born on March 10, 1937 in DeQuincy, Louisiana. Gary was a bluegrass musician and could play basically anything he put his hand on. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. After retiring from U.S. Steel Corporation, he took great pride in teaching his grandchildren to play the guitar. Gary was proud of serving his country in the military. He loved his family, and was a devoted husband to his wife, Annie.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Annette Goodman; three children, Dean Goodman (Kim) of DeQuincy, Darrell Goodman (Lisa) of DeQuincy, and Jill Young (Marcus) of Lake Charles; his grandchildren, Josh Goodman, Jake Goodman (Breanne), Daiken Goodman, and Cole Goodman; along with his great grandson, Benjamin Goodman.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings.

A Private Celebration of Gary's life will be held at a later date.
