A native and lifelong resident of Ragley, J.J. was a 1993 graduate of South Beauregard High School. Known as a jack-of-all-trades, he had a gift for fixing just about anything he set his mind to. J.J. found joy in the simple things-hunting, bird watching, caring for animals, and especially enjoyed spending time with his daughter. He was a man who appreciated nature and the world around him.
J.J. is survived by his beloved daughter, Caitlyn Jackson of Ragley; his siblings, James Duraso and wife Debbie of Ragley, Gwen Chauffepied of Ragley, and Tammy Bowling and husband Pat of Lake Charles; his half-brother, Richard Mark Jackson of Plaquemine; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard "R. A." Jackson and Lela Faye Jackson.
A Celebration of J.J.’s Life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, at Magnolia Baptist Church in Ragley. The Rev. David Free will officiate. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery in Ragley under the direction of Hixson-Snider Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be James Duraso, Pat Bowling, Josh Bowling, Joe Chauffepied, Wyatt Duraso, Cody Meaux, Austin Perkins, and John Aaron LeBlanc. Visitation will be held in the church from 5-8 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday in the church.
