Larry John Blanchard, Sr., passed away quietly and peacefully from this life on January 28, 2011 at a local hospital. His family members were close at his side as they had been during his illness. Larry was a kind, patient and hardworking man whose main focus in life was caring for his wife of 42 years, Ruby Mae Mitchell Blanchard. He was so very proud of his only child, Shorty, who he always considered his best friend. He was born into a large, warm family that he cared for deeply. In recent years, he was devoted to his two grandsons Cade and Ty Blanchard with whom he loved spending time. The boys dearly loved there “Pops” and “Jackwagon” who rarely went without wearing his Dallas Cowboys hat and will miss him very much. He was a resident of Starks and a member of First Pentecostal Church of Starks. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mable Blanchard and brother’s Kenneth, Jerald, Sidney and Roy Blanchard. He is survived by his wife Ruby Mae, son Larry John “Shorty” Blanchard, Jr. and wife Sarah; grandsons; Cade and Ty, sister Patsy Smith, brother Lawrence Blanchard and wife Rose and many nieces and nephews. His funeral will be at 10:00 on Tuesday February 1, 2011 at First Pentecostal Church of Starks. Reverend’s Greg Frasier and Jerry Crise will officiate Visitation will be from 4:00 until 9:00 on Monday at the Church. Burial will be at Doyle Cemetery in Starks.
