He was a native of Ville Platte and had lived in DeQuincy for the last 76 years. Lastie enjoyed cooking, eating, gardening (especially keeping up his beautiful lawn), spending time with his family, and truly lived to help others. He was a faithful member of Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in DeQuincy and later fellowshipped at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Lake Charles with his late wife, Lula.
Survivors include his children, Wilford Skinner, Calvin Skinner (Elizabeth), Annie Boyd (James), Dorothy Hooks, Ray Skinner (Priscilla), and Terry Skinner (Summer); his bonus children, Darrel Simien (Jeanette), Sarah Doucet (Vernon), and Alvin Doucet; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Faye Skinner; his siblings, Alvin Skinner, Sr., Ethel Reeves, and Evelyn Ardoin; a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his spouses, Doris Skinner and Lula Doucet; his children, Francis "Framp" Skinner and Claiborne Skinner Sr.; grandson, Darrick Hooks; his parents, Layous and Leona Skinner Reeves (William); four brothers; and two sisters.
A Celebration of Lastie's life will be held at Bible Baptist Church in DeQuincy, Louisiana on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at 11:00 am, with Pastor Braylon Harris officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday beginning at 9:00am. Burial will be at Community Cemetery in DeQuincy.
