

She was born in Bunkie, La. and was a resident of DeQuincy most of her life. She was a member of the DeQuincy Church of Christ Church and a former employee of DeQuincy Memorial Hospital working as a LPN Nurse for Dr. David Drez. She was known for her lemon ice box coconut cream pies, cornbread dressing, but most well known for was her homemade chocolate fudge and divinity candies and her wonderful chicken and dumpling. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and never met a stranger. She also loved hunting, fishing and gardening. The love of her life was her family and her Lord and Savior.
Survivors include her husband; James S. Thompson of 63 years of DeQuincy, son; James S. Thompson, Jr. of DeQuincy, 2 daughters; Norma Jean Patterson and Carol Louise Yellott both of DeQuincy, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 10a.m. in the DeQuincy Church of Christ Church. Rev. Paul Wilcoxson and Elder. Joey Franks will officiate. Burial will be in McFatter Cemetery under the direction of Hixson-Snider Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday, October 15 from 4-9p.m. in Hixson-Snider Funeral Home and will resume on Saturday at 9a.m. at the church until time of service.
