DeQuincy - Mary Ruth Cook, 84, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2014 in her home.
A lifetime resident of DeQuincy, Mrs. Cook was Pentecostal and a member of Shiloh Pentecostal Church. She was Sunday School Director and very active in her church. She always let everyone know she was the “Mother” of the church. She operated a craft shop and her own plant nursery in DeQuincy for many years. Mary Ruth was also a sales agent for Common Wealth and First National Life Insurance Companies.
Survivors include her son, Rev. Eddie Hoosier, Jr. and wife Karen of DeQuincy; two daughters, Sherry Perkins and husband Keithon of DeQuincy and Susan Royer and husband Garland of DeQuincy; 4 Grandchildren, Kevin Perkins, Alisha Hoosier, Carrie Wilson and Chelsea LeDay; 4 great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Maggie, & Ellie Perkins, and Blake Wilson. She was predeceased by her husband, G. D. Cook.
Her funeral service will be at 1:00pm Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Shiloh Pentecostal Church, 1330 Hwy 12 East, DeQuincy with Rev. Jimmy Dale White and Rev. Tina O'Bannon officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday, November 8, from 2:00pm until 10:00pm and resume on Sunday at 10:00am until service time all at Shiloh Pentecostal Church.
