Mrs. Hayes was born on January 1.1927 in DeQuincy. She is survived by her daughters, Dana Hayes (David) Labby, Amanda Hayes (Charles) Buchanan; her sister and best friend, Elizabeth Hanberry (Ernest) Mothershed; grandchildren Angela Rae (Wayne) Martin, Joseph Brady (Wendy Bullock) Macarthur, Johnathan Bryce (Bonne) Macarthur, Charles "Casey" Buchanan II and Emma Helen Buchanan; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Raymond Keith "Nap" Hayes; her parents, Joseph "Mertz" and Emie Morris Hanberry; and her brother Joseph Mertz Hanberry, Jr.
She was known to all as a Prayer Warrior and faithful Christian. Everyone close to her felt that she was their best friend. For 30 years, she was co-owner of a cosmetics manufacturing corporation with her husband. She was involved in her church and in her retirement enjoyed volunteering at The Pantry in Lake Charles. She played piano, had a great sense of humor (she loved a good joke) and was a wicked Scrabble opponent. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
