Melvin Joseph Savoy

Melvin Joseph Savoy, 86, of DeQuincy, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. He was born to his late parents, Norris and Azelida Savoy on June 24, 1939 in Midland, Louisiana. He enjoyed playing the guitar, riding motorcycles, and spending time with his friends.

He is survived by his children, Ruth Savoy and Nathan Savoy, both of Houston, Texas, Vivian Elkins of Iowa, Louisiana, and Melvin Joseph Savoy, Jr.; along with his grandchildren, D.J. Savoy, John Savoy, Jessica Savoy, Christopher Elkins, Hollie Elkins, Danielle Savoy, Rachel Bretz, Ben Savoy, and Libby Porter; along with numerous great grandchildren.

Melvin is preceded in death by his parents; son, Donald Savoy; along with his two brothers, Calvin Savoy and Emory Savoy.

A Celebration of Melvin’s life will be held at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be prior to the service on Saturday, beginning at 1:00pm.
