Merle Marie Marcantel Bunch DeQuincy - Merle Marie Marcantel Bunch, 88, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2013 in a Sulphur hospital. She was a charter member of New Hope Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and was involved in the Training Union. She was a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy. She enjoyed crafts, quilting, canning fruits and vegetables and working in her flower beds. She took special pride in her genealogy. She spent many summers at Dry Creek Baptist Encampment teaching crafts. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carroll and Odelia Marcantel; brothers, Martin Marcantel and wife Elizabeth, Arthur Marcantel and Elzia Marcantel and wife Elizabeth. Survivors include husband of 70 years, Olan "Buddo" Bunch of Vinton; two sons, Jerry Bunch and wife Carolyn and Clayton Bunch and wife Kathy all of Vinton; two daughters, Cheryl Dosher and husband Ron of Gillis and Elizabeth Koop and husband Steve of DeQuincy; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Her funeral will be on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 2:00p.m. in New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Roland Hebert and Rev. Jerry Chaddick officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Snider Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 from 5:00p.m.to 9:00p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church and resume on Wednesday at 10:00a.m. until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the New Hope Baptist Church Building Fund or the Dry Creek Baptist Encampment. Thanks for putting up with Elzia and I when we were just little guys. Your family always treated me as if I was one of the family. Thanks for all the old pictures and letters you sent me of my Mom and Dad's family when they were young.
