Ralph Kermit Nix of Ganado, Tx, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at Ganado Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. He was born to his parents, Tony George and Bessie McDonald Nix on February 4, 1932 in Alabama.
Kermit owned several businesses in his lifetime, including Nix’s Auto Parts in Lake Charles, Ganado Flea Market in Ganado, TX, Jennings Flea Market in Jennings, and various flea markets in Elton, LA. He had a passion for horses and antiques. He was Pentecostal by faith.
He is survived by his wife Adela of Ganado, TX, two daughters, Karen Shafer and her husband, Tim of Lolita, Tx. and Cyndi Clark, and husband David of Singer; daughter-in-law, Crystal Nix of Singer; one sister, Olia Hooper of Lake Charles; ten grandchildren, Amy Burnett Perkins of Singer; Katherine Nix Myrick of Lake Charles; Louis Calvin Ashworth of Topsy; Mark Nix of Singer; Frances Burgess Alvarado of Bryan, Tx; Trisha Carter of Jonesboro, AR; Brad E. Nix of Lake Charles; Clint Ashworth of Lake Charles; Erika Ashworth of Lake Charles; Dalton Shafer of Victoria, TX and Brandy Nix Jarrell of Singer; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Kermit was preceded in death by his first wife of 42 years, Thelma Adams Nix of Topsy, one daughter, Cheryl Reeves and one son, Ronnie Glen Nix, his parents, Toney George and Bessie McDonald Nix, his siblings - Toney Belton Nix, Neal Nix, Donald Nix, Shirley Mimms, and Novie Melancon. Visitation will be held at Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake on Sunday evening from 4 pm to 7 pm. Funeral serves we be held Monday at 10 AM with Bro. Ronnie Estes officiating. Burial will follow at Creel Cemetery in Topsy.
