

DeQuincy - Richard Quinn, 84, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2012 at a local Care Center.
He was born November, 29, 1927 in DeQuincy and was raised at Oretta. He was married to his wife, Frankie Pitre Quinn, for 61 years. He graduated from Singer High School in 1945 and served in the U.S. Navy and Merchant Marines. He retired from Citgo Petroleum after 38 years of service having last worked as a maintenance superintendent. An active citizen, he was a founder of the DeQuincy Little League and Dixie Youth baseball programs and was a coach of the White Socks. He was an active member of the DeQuincy Methodist Church having served on many committees. He was an enthusiastic member of Mayor Buddy Hennigan's BBQ team. A life-long outdoor’s man. Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing. Also he loved raising a garden.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lottie Royer Quinn, father, Ralph Hugh Quinn and his brother Percy Quinn. He is survived by his wife, Frankie Quinn; Daughter, Connie Cooley; grandsons, Trevor Brown and wife Ginger and Colin Brown and wife Rita; great grandchildren, Christopher Brown Jr., Jimmie Scott, Temperance Brown, Taylor Scott, Max Brown, Shane Brown and Macon Brown; brothers, McCoy (Karo) Quinn and Barney Quinn and wife Maggie; sisters, Comolette Murdaugh, Frieda Cornner and Althea Elliot and husband Larry.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 19th from 5:00 until 8:00p.m. and continue on Wednesday, June 20th from 1:00 until service time at the DeQuincy United Methodist Church . Funeral Services will on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 2:00p.m. at the church. The Rev. Gloria Youngblood and Bro. Jerry Crise will officiate. Burial will be in McFatter Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Snider Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the DeQuincy United Methodist Church.
