

Robert Lee Andrews, 97, of DeQuincy, Louisiana passed away peacefully on Friday, July 3, 2026. He was born to his late parents, Barney and Mattie Andrews on September 8, 1928 in Dry Creek, Louisiana. He was a graduate of Fairview High School. Robert enjoyed riding horses, rodeoing, hunting, and fishing. In 1950, he joined the U.S. Navy and was assigned to the battleship USS Iowa BB61. He fought in the Korean War and received a National Defense Ribbon, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and a Bronze Star. After leaving the service, for many years he worked as a millwright in construction building a life with his family. He was a millwright instructor in Sulphur for several years with the ABC School. Robert was a part of the DeQuincy Masonic Lodge #279. He was a long time member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in DeQuincy.
He is survived by his five daughters, Karen Montelaro of Sulphur, Marla Jean Saulnier (Bill) of Welsh, Terry Ann Miller (Greg) of Welsh, Donna Marie Doyle (Woody) of DeQuincy, and Reba Daniels (David) of Burlison, Tennessee; eight grandchildren; along with sixteen great grandchildren.
Robert is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Marlene Andrews; his son, Robert D. Andrews; siblings, Loraine Dalton, Aliene Hamilton, Delaney Bennett, Reba Harper Rutherford, and Bruce Andrews; son-in-law, Vic Montelaro; great grandson, Hunter Quarles and his mother, Marissa Quarles.
A Celebration of Robert's life will be held at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 1:00 pm, with
Bro. Glenn George officiating. Visitation will be at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 from 5:00 pm until
8:00 pm. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Thursday, from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will be at Masonic Cemetery in DeQuincy.
