

Sam was a native of DeQuincy and retired from PPG. He was a member of First Baptist Church of DeQuincy. “Papa” was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener, sports enthusiast and wood crafter.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 59 years, Sue Treadway Yellott of DeQuincy; two sons, Steve Yellott and wife Sheila of Baton Rouge and Scott Yellott and wife Pam of DeQuincy; one daughter, Kim Andrews and husband Kent of Kinder; seven grandchildren, Jonathan, Bradley and wife Janae Yellott of Lake Charles, Kate Desormeaux and husband Joey of Round Rock, TX, Anna Gregory and husband Ryan of Oak Grove, Jill Rice and husband Blake, Kalli and Kade Andrews of Kinder; five great grandchildren, Emma Kate Rice of Kinder, James and Samuel Gregory of Oak Grove and Reece and Baby “D” (due in three weeks) Desormeaux of Round Rock, TX; one brother Randy Yellott and wife Bobbie of Westlake; and a sister, Dorothy Yellott of Ponca City, OK. Sam is preceded in death by his parents, Maner and Hannah Yellott; a brother, Ralph Edward Yellott; and a son, Sammy Dean Yellott.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 11 am, at First Baptist Church of DeQuincy, Bro. Rob Walls will officiate. Burial will follow at Perkins Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Monday, April 14, 2014 from 5 pm till 9 pm at Hixson Snider Funeral Home and will resume Tuesday 9am till service time at the church. Pallbearers who will honor Sam are his grandsons, Bradley and Jonathan Yellott, Kade Andrews, grandson-in-law, Ryan Gregory and Blake Rice and a special nephew, David Yellott. Honorary pallbearer is grandson-in-law, Joey Desormeaux. The family is requesting in lieu of flowers to please make donations to First Baptist Church of DeQuincy or to your favorite charity.
