Valerie Mary Welch

DeQuincy - Valerie Welch, 86, passed away at a local hospital on Saturday, August 16, 2014.

Valerie was born in Lake Charles, but lived in DeQuincy for over 20 years. She was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church in DeQuincy. She worked in Lake Charles for the Sanitary Cafe. She worked as a customer service representative for Venetian Blind Co. She loved to fish and cook. Valerie especially loved her family and her grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Mark James Welch of DeQuincy; one granddaughter, Brittney Welch; one great grandson, Bryce Welch; nieces and nephew, Tommy Istre, Sandy Istre, Sara Red Istre and Becky Fuselier; great nieces and nephews, Kristen Istre, Tommy Istre, Jr., Lane Tolbert, Paige Red, Gage Brown, April Istre, Kayla Brown, Bayleigh Tolbert, T. J. Vander, Tyler Blood and Adalynn Brown.

Her services will be at 11am Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Hixson Snider Funeral Home of DeQuincy. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5pm to 9pm on Monday, at the funeral home and will resume on Tuesday from 9am till service. Words of comfort may be expressed with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
