Vernon James Ritter, age 90, a native of Edgerly and resident of DeQuincy, was entrusted to God’s loving care on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2014, in DeQuincy. Vernon was retired from Sun Oil Company, a deacon of Hargrove Baptist Church and was a United States veteran of the Army Air Force having served in World War II as a member of the 5th Bomb Group. After retirement, he enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball.
Visitation will commence on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, in Hargrove Baptist Church in DeQuincy from 10 a.m. until Christian service at 1 p.m. with Rev. Paul Nugent officiating.
Burial will follow in Perkins Cemetery.
Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Bobbie Langley Ritter of Dequincy; one son, Roger Ritter and wife Aurora of Round Rock, Texas; one granddaughter, Lotian; and one grandson, Julian.
Preceded in death by: one son, Michael Ritter; parents, Frank Ritter and Grace Mitchell Ritter; one brother, Percy Ritter; and one sister, Letha Moore.
