Arthur lived a life full of love, hard work, and devotion. He was a proud veteran of the 82nd Airborne, serving his country with honor. After his military service, Arthur went on to work for Michigan Bell for 30 years, where he spent much of his time climbing telephone poles and working in ditches, helping to connect communities across the region.
A passionate outdoorsman, Arthur cherished hunting and fishing trips with his family. His love of nature extended to his garden, where he spent countless hours tending to his flowers and land. He also had a deep appreciation for woodworking, crafting beautiful pieces with his hands. He was also deeply dedicated to his family, serving as a loving and devoted husband and father to Margie and their children. After Margie's passing, Arthur found companionship with Rita Pollack and enjoyed the time they shared with her family.
Arthur was a guiding light for many young people through his involvement with the Boy Scouts. As a Scoutmaster for Troop 516, he made a lasting impact on the lives of countless boys, teaching them invaluable life skills. His dedication to Scouting was recognized with the prestigious George Meany Award from the State of Michigan, and he was also honored as Scouter of the Year, along with his wife, multiple times. Arthur remained involved with the Eager Beavers events for many years, attending annually until he was no longer physically able.
Arthur will be dearly missed by his sisters Dorothy Merignac and Betty Cody, children Paul (Diane Houpt) Magsig and Angie (Michael Sr.) Carney; his grandchildren, Shila (Nick) Durbin, Nicci (Karl) Hansen, Charity (Jonny) Snider, Daniel Barber, and Robert (Taru) Barber; and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie; his companion, Rita; his sons, Phillip and Patrick; and his grandson, P.J.
