Barbara lived her life serving God, serving her Church and loving her family.
Barbara worked at Gier Elementary School for about 20 years as an instructional aid; helping kids when they needed extra help in specific areas, and later worked at MSU stores for 10 years before she retired for good.
Nearly every year Barbara was involved in the planning, and organization of the week long vacation Bible school programs. She also taught weekly Sunday school classes.
After retirement her and her husband Terry would travel when possible and spent their winters in Florida.
She loved to sing and play the piano. She sang in a trio in college, sang frequently at church, was the church pianist for a number of years, and sang a couple years with CMI; which toured the area between Thanksgiving and Christmas with their Christmas performance.
For years she and her husband were youth group leaders at Church and coached the Bible Bowl Team.
What she will most be remembered for was her laugh and her smile. Her laugh was infectious, and once you got her going you were likely laughing right along besides her.
She was loved by many and had such a positive influence on even many more. She will be missed tremendously!
Barbara Preceded in death by her father Harold Walter, and sister Lynn Walter. She is survived by her husband Terry L. Heckaman, son Tim D. Heckaman (Sarah), daughter Jenn L.
