Bernard S. Zeeb Jr. passed away on November 15, 2018. He was born at home on the family farm in Bath, MI to Bernard S. and Virgilene (Clise) Zeeb on September 9, 1922. Bernard graduated from Bath High School and Michigan State College (MSU) earning a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. He was inducted into the Army in 1942 and honorably discharged in 1944, to continue his education. He was a large animal practitioner in the early years transitioning to a mixed animal practice. He owned and operated three animal clinics in the Lansing area over a 40 year career. He was a member of AVMA and MVMA professional organizations and co-founder of Mid-State Veterinary Association. He was a member of the Gunnisonville United Methodist Church, Bath. Sports were very important to Bernie, starting in high school with football, basketball, track and baseball. He earned 13 varsity letters out of 14. Later he played tennis and participated in tournament archery, fly fishing, hunting and cross country skiing. He listened to Dixieland jazz at an early age and never outgrew his love for the music, describing himself as a “Dixieland Jazz Aficionado”. He also became a small plane pilot. He enjoyed going north to his cabin on the Manistee River and to Placida FL and Bluffton, SC for the winter.

Bernard is survived by his wife, Virginia (Shawnee); two children, Ron (Winalee) and Janet; two grandsons, Scott (Kathy) and David; three great granddaughters, Ashley, Laurie and Maya; two great great grandsons, Riley and Ayden; sister-in-law, Virginia, “Ginny”; and many nieces and nephews. Bernard was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother (deceased at birth); wife, Laurie (Sober), mother of their two children; brothers, Virgil (Irene Pierce) and Robert; and grandson, Terry.
